Product Certification

Product certification is a system under which a third-party body confirms that a specific product complies with defined standards or technical requirements.
It is essential for consumer protection and safety, and serves as a key indicator for building trust and entering global markets.

1. Main Types of Product Certification

• Statutory Mandatory Certification: Required by law

  • - KC Certification, Korea Certification: Korea’s integrated national certification mark. Products where safety is critical, including electrical appliances, household goods and children’s products, must carry this mark.
  • - CE Marking: Certification required for products distributed within the European Union market.
  • - FCC Certification: Radio-frequency conformity certification for communications and electronic products in the United States.
  • - CCC Certification: China’s compulsory product certification for products imported and distributed in China.

• Statutory Voluntary Certification: Optional, but beneficial for public-sector supply

  • - KS Certification, Korean Industrial Standards: Confirms compliance with Korean Industrial Standards. The quality level is recognised under a national standard system.
  • - Eco-friendly Certification: Includes environmental labelling, low-carbon certification and related schemes.
